Any infection can infect most part of the bodies but the infection Bacterial vaginosis is common in the female species -it is a mild infection of the vagina. This condition is caused by an imbalance in the growth of the bacteria that normally populate the vagina region. Research still goes on to find answers because it is still not known exactly why this imbalance in bacterial growth happens.This condition at one time was named Gardnerella vaginitis, because Gardnerella is a type of bacteria that is normally the instigator behind the cause of the vaginal infection. We are now aware and now know that overgrowth of other types of bacteria can also cause bacterial vaginosis.
